Shiatsu leer je niet uit een boek, maar in de praktijk. Maar toch zijn boeken niet onmisbaar bij deze studie. Als je gaat lezen kom je er achter dat er veel verschillende stromingen zijn binnen Shiatsu. Dit komt door verschillende redenen; lichamen zijn altijd uniek, vertaling uit het Chinees en Japans is niet altijd accuraat omdat de taal zich daar niet toe leent, en soms maken de Chinezen gebruik van voorbeelden die vanuit hun cultuur goed tot de verbeelding spreken, maar niet dezelfde lading hebben in de Westerse culturen.
Met dit in het achterhoofd heeft de NSKS wel een aantal boeken die aan te raden zijn om je te sterken in je kennis en toepassen van Shiatsu.
Niet alle boeken zijn gemakkelijk verkrijgbaar. Veel van onderstaande boeken zijn te verkrijgen bij bijvoorbeeld Bol.com of Amazon. Van anderen dien je met geluk te stuiten op een tweedehands versie. Shiatsu is een oude kunst, en zo ook een aantal van de belangrijke bronnen van informatie. Veel plezier!

Literature list course Shiatsu
Shiatsu is not best learned from a book, but needs to be practiced. Even though this is so, there are books that have a significant place within this study. When you start reading you come to the conclusion that there are many different views and practices within Shiatsu. Several reasons can be given: all bodies are unique, some things get lost in translation from Chinese and Japanese, and sometimes examples are used that make sense from an oriental perspective but just don’t carry the same weight in the language they are translated to.
Keeping this in mind, the NSKS did come to an extensive list of books that are to be read and understood if you want to make Shiatsu your own.
Not all books are easily obtained. Many can be found at for example Bol.com or Amazon. Yet for other you will need some serendipity helping you stumble upon a used version. Shiatsu is an ancient art, and that goes for a number of the important sources of information as well. Enjoy!
