WHAT IS
SHIATSU ?
Shiatsu is a form of manual therapy which relies on graduated pressure (with the use of thumbs, fingers and hand palms) , as well as rotations and manipulations of the limbs. Pressure is applied following Oriental diagnostic principles and systems to correct deteriorated natural body function and to prevent further damage. It is used as a boost and balance for retention of maximum health and continual support of the immune system. This therapy form makes no use of instruments. A Shiatsu treatment usually takes one hour and works quickly and efficiently for problems involving headache, back pain, sleeplessness, muscle pain, nerve pain, stress and mentally or emotionally related symptoms. People who are treated with Shiatsu do not have to undress. It is possible to experience this fascinating approach to health yourself. In a Basic course of 8 weeks you will experience for yourself the beneficial effects. De Basic course consists of 8 lessons each taking 2 hours. In the first hour, attention is concentrated on the development of your Ki (vitality) and stretching specific meridians - this is called Do-In. The second hour is dedicated to learning by example and practise with partners, the basic techniques of Classical Shiatsu.
